How we use the Sun to heat our pool

When you live in Northern Ohio, and you love your pool, this solar heating solution will extend your season.
Here is the way we heat our pool.
This should give you a general idea on how you can put a system together.
I'll update this with a more detailed parts list and approximate cost list VERY SOON! If you have any questions, give me a call: 216-712-2667

This is a 1hp Hayward pool pump with PVC adapters you can purchase at most hardware stores. Also, "Sears - Craftsmen" black hose. These hoses are guaranteed for life by Sears.

This is the output hose from the pump. This hose goes to the roof of the house.
On the roof I've connected 10 - 100ft. "Sears - Craftsmen" hoses. I also used "Armor-All" on the hoses while lining up. Just connect one hose at a time and use a rag with "Armor-All" to wipe the length of the hose.

This is the input to the pump. This is our shortest hose 25ft that goes directly into the pool.

Input close-up. I'll stop by Home Depot today and get all the part descriptions and cost.

Make sure to use Teflon tape to connect the PVC adapter to the other brass female hose connector.

The brass female hose connector connected to the PVC adapter.

The pump is below (out of frame).
The hose without the red tape is the output from the pump to the roof.
The hose with the red tape is the end of the 1000ft run of connected hoses back to the pool.

Here is the way I lined up the hoses on the roof..
Not pretty, but it works so unbelievably fantastic!!!

I really need to cut the lawn.

VERY IMPORTAINT !!!
Once you connect everything, use your home garden hose water supply to prime your new solar heater before you turn the pump on! Connect your input hose from the pool (black hose on the right) and run the home water until all the hoses are full. If you don't, you will burn the pump.

On a sunny day the water coming from the solar heater gets to about 120 degrees.
